I've been a little bit late with my blogging - I'm up to date now though. Christmas is such a busy time and grown-ups seem to have so much to do at this time of year - I'm not too sure what it's really all about - Mummy told me it's when baby Jesus was born and a large man called Santa comes down the chimney to leave presents for good children - maybe I'll understand it more next year! I wonder if Santa will come to visit me? I have been a very good boy!

I've been sleeping much better recently in my new sleeping bag. Mummy and Daddy are keeping their fingers crossed that this good sleeping phase lasts. I've even managed to sleep through the night for the last few nights! I've had an extra heater on in my room too as it's been really freezing cold outside. I wonder if it'll snow on Christmas Day?

Merry Christmas everyone!

So I've reached my big 6 month milestone! Me, Mummy and Daddy have all had to learn so much in that time - and we're still learning! Mummy's finding it strange at the moment that all of a sudden I've gone from just drinking milk to eating food that grown-ups eat (although a little more mashed up and pureed than usual!) My latest weigh-in at the baby clinic was 13lb 8oz.

I'm getting excited about my 1st christmas - Mummy put our christmas tree up and I've been out christmas shopping - the christmas countdown has begun!

It was a big week for me - I had my first taste of solids and I quite liked it! Mummy started me on plain baby rice at first which was a bit boring, but then she started adding apple and pear puree to it and that really jazzed it up and made it so yummy! I also tried banana which I loved - but then came the veggies. They're growing on me but I wasn't too keen on them at the start, so far I've tried sweet potato, carrot and parsnip - Mummy's hoping that I get as excited about vegetables as I do about fruit - she doesn't want me developing a sweet tooth. Talking of which there's still no sign of any of my gnashers coming through yet!

Grandma and Grandpa also came to visit me this week. Daddy took us all christmas shopping at Westfield. Mummy really likes it there as it has really good facilities for me like a really good 'family room' which has changing tables and private areas for breastfeeding. Westfield has really good shops and restaurants too and I had a nice sleep while everyone sat down to tuck in to viatnamese noodles.

I'm still not sleeping very well much to Mummy and Daddys dismay - most nights I wake every 3 hours! Mummy and Daddy are hoping that when I get into the swing of eating more solids it'll keep my tummy fuller for longer and we can all get some valuable sleep!

My rolling skills are coming on in leaps and bounds! As well as rolling from my tummy onto my back, I can now roll from my back and (nearly) onto my tummy. I've even taken to rolling off my changing mat if Mummy and Daddy aren't looking - luckily it's on the floor so it's not too dangerous. Mummy wonders if I'll be a breakdancer one day with all this rolling and leg kicking that I'm doing. I'm also enjoying practising my new skill - blowing raspberries! I also like it when other people blow them at me!

I think Mummy and Daddy have been exhausted the last few weeks. My sleeping patterns have been very erratic and I've been waking at strange random hours! I go to bed at usual at 8pm but then I've been waking again at 9.30/10pm and then a couple of times in the night. I've now grown out of my Moses basket so I sleep in my cot instead - Mummy and Daddy think this may have unsettled me, but I've had quite a few nights to get used to it. I do however sometimes wriggle out of my covers and in this weather my room can get pretty chilly! Mummy's getting me a baby sleeping bag which I can't wriggle out of and might help to keep me warmer and therefore sleep better - fingers crossed!

Mummy and Daddy remember that the first time I went swimming a few weeks back, I started sleeping all through the night for the whole of the following week. They thought this might work again so we went for a swim this week. Unfortunately the plan didn't work and made no difference to my bedtime shenanigans, it just made me a bit grouchy in the pool as I was a bit cold. You can probably see my blue hands in the photo!

I also went to the baby clinic and weighed in at 12lb 8oz (up from 11lb 4oz) so it was a good weight gain - onwards and upwards!

I spent most of this week in Bridgie with Grandma and Grandpa. It was nice for Mummy and Daddy to have extra help looking after me and they were looking forward to catching up on some much needed rest. However, all didn't go to plan as I just couldn't seem to settle very well at bedtime and I kept waking up at unexpected hours. Lucky that Grandma and Grandpa were up early so they could look after me and allow Mummy and Daddy to lie in for a while!
It was nice to see Uncle Adrian, Auntie Nikki and Josh again and I also met Hollie for the first time.

Mummy and Daddy also took me for a day trip to Bristol. We visited Flo (she's a cutie!) and her mummy Yasmin. Olive was at school so I didn't meet her which was a shame and then we went to see Tom and Luke at Tom's new shop - Friend and Co. There were lots of nice pictures for sale in the shop - some of it a bit too pricey for me though! I'm lucky that Daddy treated me to a nice owl painting for my room that he bought from Tom when I was born. Maybe one day Tom can sell my paintings in his shop!

I also learnt a new daredevil skill this week - I can now roll from my tummy onto my back! I need a bit more practice as it's still new to me and sometimes the shock of rolling too quickly can make me cry!

Me and Mummy went to a couple of groups this week. Firstly we went to the 'parent and baby' group that we went to a few weeks ago - it was a bit quiet the last time we were there but this time there were lots of babies with their Mummies. We also went to a 'songs and storytime' group - that was my favourite! We sang lots of songs - some we were familiar with and some that were new to us - Mummy had to make the words up as she went along with the songs we didn't know - we had lots of fun! Two of Mummys friends, Rupal and Stacey also came to visit us this week - we all went for lunch at the italian deli - I was really on my best behaviour and Mummy managed to finish all of her lunch in relative peace without too many distractions from yours truly!

We spent the end of the week packing and getting ready for our holiday to Somerset to visit Grandma and Grandpa - tune in for next weeks installment to see what I got up to!

When I was about 1 month old Grandma gave Mummy a poem which I'd like to share with you. Mummy came across it again the other day and remembers how comforting it was to know that other parents go through similar emotions and worries about their babies -

I worry is he cold
I worry is he hot
I worry when he's screaming
I worry when he's not
I worry if he's breathing
And creep up to take a peep
He's hungry when I'm sleeping
At meal times he's asleep
I worry that I worry so
And worry when I'm not
But its all because I love him
And I'm proud of what we've got

Oh well, as they say all good things come to an end - I can't seem to sleep through the night now like I did a few weeks ago. I did try - sorry it was so shortlived Mummy, I'll try again one day! I enjoy having my nighttime feeds again - maybe it's a growth spurt I'm going through. I don't think Mummy really minds too much having to get up in the night - I only wake her once so it's not too bad. I usually wake around 3am ish - it's so quiet at that time that it feels like it's just me and Mummy awake in the whole world, its our special bonding time! Daddy plays his part in my nighttime feeds too - he usually stays up late on friday and saturday to bottle feed me so Mummy gets weekends off.

I'm growing really fast and learning new things every day. I enjoy smiling, gurgling and cooing, dribbling and sucking my thumbs and fingers - I sometimes like to see if I can fit my whole hand in my mouth! My favourite hobby at the moment (and one that helps calm me down when I'm niggly) is dancing with Daddy to his reggae tunes!

Mummy took me to visit her workplace this week. Mummy works at Harrods and it was nice to meet the people that Mummy works with and to see what Mummy used to do before I was born. I think it was a bit strange for her as it's been nearly 5 months since she was at work last! I don't think she's in any hurry to get back to work and is very glad that she's still got 7 months at home with me! I was very well behaved but then started getting hungry and got a bit cranky - Mummys boss said it was ok to give me my bottle so I sat with Mummy at her old desk and had my lunch! We didn't go shopping in Harrods as Mummy thought it best to get me straight home - I think we'll go back with Daddy one weekend to have a look around and blow the dust off Mummys discount card.

We also tried out a 'parent and toddler group' at the school at the end of the road. It was a bit quiet as there was only one other little girl and her Daddy who were there! At least there were some different toys for me to play with and Mummy was able to have a chat with someone different. I think Mummy's getting her confidence up now and is feeling a bit braver about trying these groups out, she's found out about some more in the area and we'll start giving them a go.

Daddy went to Bristol this weekend for 1 night so Granny stayed over to keep us company. Mummy was worried that I might be a bit difficult to settle at bedtime without Daddy around to sing me to sleep but I went to sleep ok - I did miss Daddy though!

I think I finally understand this sleeping through the night thing that grown-ups do. Mummy's been really happy (and less grumpy) because I've not been waking for my night-time feed and I've been sleeping from 9pm ish until 7/8am ish! I've done this all week - I'm really in Mummy's good books as she's been catching up on lots of missed sleep!
I also went for my second swim this week but wasn't as relaxed about it as I was last week. Mummy said I looked a bit worried the whole time and I didn't like it too much when Daddy put me on my back. I was also VERY noisy in the changing rooms afterwards when I was getting dressed - it was a bit chilly in there after being in the nice warm pool!

I visited Granny and Grandad this week and caught up with Uncle Breezey - We tried the journey this time in the buggy, it was ok but not as easy as my baby carrier. I'm getting a bit too heavy for that these days and Mummy can only take me short distances. It's perfect for going to the italian cafe round the corner for when Mummy fancies cappuccino and carrot cake!

Hurray! Our internet is back - we had a whole week without it, Mummy and Daddy are pleased to be connected to the world again!

Mummy and Daddy took me swimming for the first time this week - I really loved it! We went to the childrens pool at Tooting Leisure Centre - it was nice and shallow and a few degrees warmer than the grown-ups pool. I wore my new baby wetsuit which helped keep me warm and looked well cool! The pool was mainly full of toddlers and older children but I noticed there was one other baby swimming too. He didn't have a wetsuit on and looked a bit jealous when he saw me wearing mine!

I had a very special moment with Daddy this week - he took me to see my very first Banksy! It was in Croydon near to Ikea and showed a man reading some instructions for a graffiti slogan which was in an Ikea box. I think the grown-ups will understand the point that Banksy is trying to make! It was already messed up with other peoples scribbles all over it which was a bit of a shame - I wouldn't like it if someone came and scribbled all over my picture - hope Banksy wasn't too upset.

Gosh - 4 months old! Where is the time going?! Mummy's spent alot of time this week thinking about when to start me on solids. At my weigh-in this week the health visitor confused Mummy by suggesting that I start solids because my weight was slightly below where it should be. I've still put on weight but not as much as my growth chart says I should've done. Mummy had always had the advice that babies should continue to breastfeed until 6 months and then weaning onto solids can start. 6 months is the recommended age as that's when our tummys are fully developed and there's no risk of causing digestive and allergy problems later on in life. Mummy and Daddy had a think about it and decided it was too early to start me on solids and have chosen to carry on breastfeeding me but to give me an extra top-up of SMA milk just to help get my weight up. I've not really shown any signs of being interested in Mummy's and Daddy's food and I'm still enjoying having my milk - the SMA is nice too, I gobble that up pretty easily! Mummy will get me weighed again in a couple of weeks and hopefully my weight will have increased much more.

I also had the last set of my immunisations. I won't need to have any more now until I'm 1 year old - yippee!

I went on my first trip on the tube with Mummy this week. We went to visit Granny and Grandad in Hackney and Mummy wanted to try out travelling a bit further than Tooting! It was actually really easy. Mummy took me in my baby carrier and discovered that London Bridge station has lifts from the platform to the street which is really helpful for when Mummy takes me in my buggy. We got off there and jumped on the bus that went straight to Granny and Grandads house. It was a really good journey and was nice to see the sights of London and to be away from Tooting for a while! I think we'll definately do it again - maybe in my buggy next time!

Mummy and Daddy have been reflecting on how much I've changed since I was born. Mummy remembers how people used to say that things will get easier as time goes by and she's beginning to agree - she didn't believe that it would though at the time! My colic has all gone now and I don't suffer with trapped wind as bad as I used to so I cry a bit less at nighttime. Mummy and Daddy are enjoying having their evenings back. On Saturday night they enjoyed a chilled evening eating pizza and relaxing in front of the TV, Mummy really thought those evenings had disappeared and would never come back! Mummy's happy that I'm a bit more settled into a routine now and that I know when it's bedtime so Mummy and Daddy can have their time!

I've also changed in the way that I communicate to Mummy and Daddy. Instead of crying all the time when I want something (like I used to), I've learnt to make new sounds and I enjoy babbling to myself. When I wake up now I just babble and coo so Mummy has a gentle call to wake up and feed me. If she takes too long to come to me then I'll increase the volume and cry for a bit - sometimes though I end up falling asleep again if I'm not that hungry and don't really need feeding. Mummy has to be a bit of a mind-reader sometimes guessing if I'm hungry or not!

Grandma and Grandpa came up from Somerset to visit me at the weekend. It was nice weather so we spent alot of time in the garden. Mummy hasn't been doing much gardening since I arrived so Grandma and Grandpa spent a bit of time tidying it all up - I played in my jungle gym outside so everyone could keep an eye on me. Grandma and Grandpa also babysat one night so that Mummy and Daddy could go out for a drink for Jake's(Toyo) 40th birthday. It was the first time that Mummy and Daddy had gone out to a bar together since I was born - I think they enjoyed it! This is a picture of Mummy and Daddy on their night out - I thought it would be nice to show you a picture of my Mummy and Daddy this week!

It's been a bit of a 'long' week this week. Granny didn't visit as she was on holiday so it was just me and Mummy at home this week. Uncle Breezy visited me one evening so that was nice and I hadn't seen him for a little while. Mummy likes it when we have visitors as she does sometimes long for a bit of adult conversation!

I think Mummy's been a bit tired this week - the broken sleep she's been getting is starting to take its toll - she's longing for the night when I no longer need a nighttime feed! My tummy's still small and can't keep me satisfied for too long, I'm still only young so she's going to have to hang in there for a while longer!

I'm 3 months old! We can't quite believe where the time has gone - it's gone so quickly! Mummy and Daddy realise that I won't be a little baby for long and they want to enjoy every second of my early days! Mummy doesn't worry too much about stuff that were concerns when I was first born. Breastfeeding was always a bit of an issue and Mummy was never sure if I was getting enough to eat or if she was doing it right - nowadays we just do it without thinking about it and Mummy knows I'm getting enough food just from looking at my nappies!

I had to have my second round of immunisations this week - I cried a bit in the nurse's room but I was ok when I got back home. Mummy gave me some Calpol as the injections can make me a bit feverish. I was fairly sleepy for the rest of the day and fell asleep easily at bedtime.

This week Mummy and Daddy took me shopping to Wimbledon which I quite liked. Wimbledon was full of other babies out with their yummy mummies and I've decided its a nice 'baby-friendly' place to go shopping. Mummy and Daddy even managed to sit down and have some lunch. I was very well behaved - basically as long as I have a full tummy and clean nappy I'm pretty happy and can be as good as gold!

I've had a lovely week this week - Daddy was off work for a few days so he was able to help Mummy look after me! It was really nice to spend time with Daddy as our usual weekend time together goes so quickly! Uncle Adrian, Auntie Nikki and Josh also came to stay with us for a few days. I let them sleep in my room and I set up camp in Mummy and Daddy's room. I slept fine once I got off to sleep, It took a while though to get me off and everyone took their turn trying to settle me. Josh tried very hard and kept putting my diddy in and rocking me in my moses basket - he managed to get me off to sleep one night - he's got the magic touch! They all went to Wembley and bought me a cool top - check me out wearing it in my photo! It was nice having everyone to stay and Uncle Adrian and Auntie Nikki kindly offered to babysit me one night so that Mummy and Daddy could go to Wagamamas for dinner - yummy!

I went for my regular visit to the baby clinic this week too, my weight is now 10lb 2oz. This is good as there's a special growth chart that I'm measured against and my weight gain is healthy and steady.

This weekend was carnival weekend and Mummy and Daddy had to skip their trip to Notting Hill as I'm a bit too young to go and the crowds might panic me - maybe next year!

Mummy and Daddy took me shopping this weekend to Ikea. Its such a huge place full of adults getting stressed out! I didn't much like the vibe in there so I was glad to get home. I also went to Mothercare and Mummy and Daddy bought me a few things with some gift vouchers that were given to me. I've now got a nice mobile for my cot and a really cool 'rainforest' playgym. Daddy calls it my jungle gym - not sure what the difference is between a rainforest and a jungle!? Its got lots of animals on it and plays music with colourful lights - its nice to have something different to do during the day and I think it'll be really helpful with my development.

Granny and Grandad came round to see me again this week - they come most weeks which is good for Mummy as it gives her a bit of a break and Grandad brings some yummy dinner round for Mummy and Daddy.

Mummy and Daddy think I'm sleeping a bit better these days - I'm a little more easier to settle at nights and usually go to sleep between 7.30-8.30. Mummy then feeds me before she goes to bed at 10.30ish and if it's a good night I'll only wake up once at about 3am and then not until 6.30/7am - I sit with Daddy in the mornings while he's having his breakfast so Mummy can get a bit more sleep. I think Mummy and Daddy are pleased with the way its all starting to get a bit better - I do sometimes tire them out though as I can still be a bit of a handful!

I've just got back from my summer holidays. Mummy and Daddy took me to stay with my Grandma and Grandpa in Bridgie, Somerset. I had a great time and enjoyed meeting Uncle Adrian, Auntie Nikki and my cousins Sophie and Josh for the first time. Josh was a cool dude and I hope when I grow up I'll be as cool as him! We spent one evening in their teepee in the garden which was good practice for when I go camping with Mummy and Daddy when I'm older!
It was Mummys birthday during our stay and Grandma and Grandpa took us to Burnham on Sea - my first trip to the seaside. The sea air must have done me good as I slept the whole time we were there! We also went to a classic car show and there were some lovely old cars. Everyone saw them except me as I was sleeping again - I think the countryside has a good effect on me and makes me nice and relaxed! Mummy wishes she could bottle the country air and use it on me when I get niggly at home!

I went to the doctor for my 2 month check-up and immunisations. He checked my eyes, my ears and my boy bits and he also let mummy listen to my heartbeat with the stethsoscope. She was surprised that it was so fast like I'd just run a marathon! The doctor said all young babies have a fast heartbeat and that it was normal. I've also got a swollen belly button that looks like there's a malteser stuck underneath! He also said this was ok and that it would pop back in when I get older. He told mummy that I was fit and healthy and sent us off to the nurse for my injections. I was given one injection in each thigh and boy did it hurt! I had a bit of a scream but I don't think I was as bad as Mummy thought I'd be! I think the injections were for polio, diptheria and tetanus - I've got to have some more in 4 weeks time - it's not much fun being a baby when these horrible injections have to be done!

I was also weighed at the baby clinic this week and my weight is now 8lb 14oz! The health visitor was surprised that I'd put on so much in only 2 weeks, she said maybe Mummy's got lead in her milk!

Mummy and Daddy also took me to my first party this week - Paulies Patio Party! It was great fun and I met so many people. There were lots of lovely ladies who wanted to have a dance with me and as it was a tribute to Michael Jackson there were lots of MJ tunes to dance to. It's funny that I'm an MJ too! I was really well behaved at the party and I really enjoyed myself!

It's been a fairly quiet week this week. It was very rainy so Mummy and I have been staying dry and cosy at home.

I've had a few 'grizzley' nights this week and not settled very well at bedtime. Mummy and Daddy think that I'm definately suffering with colic - this means that I get alot of trapped wind which is very hard to get rid of and is very uncomfortable! Mummy and Daddy give me colic drops which sometimes help - but it's at it's worst when the evening is starting at around 6pm/7pm. Daddy calls it 'the witching hour' when I get my 'fangs' out and start screaming lots. I don't know what he means though because I haven't got any 'fangs' - not yet anyway! Anyway, I know that the screaming and crying can drive Mummy and Daddy crazy sometimes but if I try and give them a cute smile the next day all is usually forgiven!

I had another treat this week - I've now got a bouncy chair! It's extra special because it vibrates too which can be very relaxing. When I'm not ready for bed I sit in it whilst Mummy and Daddy have their dinner. I'm very lucky to have all these cool things - I wonder what treats I'll get next week?

Mummy and Daddy took me to the hospital this week for my hearing test. Everything went fine and my hearing is ok - so I'll be able to hear when Mummy and Daddy are talking about me!
The doctor asked me to be as still and quiet as a mouse and he made me listen to funny noises through special baby earphones. It was a bit like when Mummy and Daddy listen to sounds with those white grown-up earphones that Daddy calls an Ipod. Mummy and Daddy said I did really well as I kept very still and quiet for the Doctor.

I also went for my weigh-in at the baby clinic - I'm now 7lb 15oz! I'm getting much bigger and more alert and starting to look around more. I'm also starting to dribble a bit - Mummy thinks it might be my gums getting ready for my teeth but I don't think they'll come through for a while! I've also spent a bit of time with Daddy watching the Tour de France. I'm looking forward to getting my own bike but I'll have to make sure that I get Daddy to teach me how to ride as I think Mummy's a bit wobbly when it comes to cycling!

I've been a bit restless this week when Daddy's tried to put me to bed and a few nights I've been waking Mummy up more times than I usually do. I think I might be going through a growth spurt - that's what it says in Mummys book that the health visitor gave her - growth spurts happen at 6 weeks and then again at 3 months.

This week Mummy bought me a baby carrier. We're still getting used to all the straps and buckles on it but I'm quite liking it. I like being close to Mummy and don't really like being left on my own in my moses basket - the baby carrier means that she can carry me whilst still doing stuff around the house - I'm sure it will be a big help!

I went to the baby clinic this week and Mummy was pleased to see that I now weigh 7lb 6oz, I think she was a bit worried that I wasn't getting enough milk - but I am! My clothes which were massive for me are even starting to fit me a bit better. I got lots of clothes as presents from friends and family, I'm starting to get more clothes than Mummy and thats really saying something! I've even got a cool Arsenal kit from Uncle Adrian and Aunty Nikki.

Mummy and Granny took me shopping in Tooting this week but I didn't like it much. We went to Sainsburys but it was too busy and too hot outside that all I wanted to do was to go home so I spent my time doing what I do best - crying!

I've been sleeping a bit better now and trying to get used to this night and day routine that grown-ups are so into. I try to wake mummy only once during the night at 3/4 am ish and then not again until 7 am ish. I think she likes this arrangement but I can't always guarantee that its the same routine each night! I'm sure I'll get more used to it as I get older. Its hard to stay quiet though when I do wake up and I hope that I don't interrupt Daddy too much as he has to go to work and needs lots of sleep - sorry Daddy!

My 1st Month

Mummy and I spent 5 days in hospital getting to know each other. I was quite sleepy the first few days so I spent alot of my time resting and Mummy was busy learning things like breastfeeding and how to look after me. Breastfeeding was a bit difficult at first but the midwives gave lots of advice and said we'd get used to it after lots of practice. I think we're getting there now but Mummy doesn't like it when I start nibbling on her nipple as it makes her a bit sore - I'll have to try and stop doing that!

Daddy was busy too as he had stuff to do to prepare for our homecoming. My new cot was still in its flat pack so Daddy and Uncle Breezy (Mummys brother Jonathan) had to put it together so I'd have somewhere to sleep when I got home. They didn't need to rush to put it together though because I wasn't too comfortable in it as it was too big for me. I was still used to being all cosy in Mummys tummy so Daddy got me a Moses basket which was alot smaller and cosier for me.

I didn't go out too much in my first month except for my first car ride to Granny and Grandads and the odd walk in my red bugaboo bee buggy that Grandpa and Grandma bought for me. I think Mummy and Daddy will take me out more when I have my immunisations as its a bit risky at the moment with all this swine flu about!

We had lots of visitors in my first month, here are photos of Paulie, Bronwyn, Tom and Yasmin who came to see me.
